Hello peeps,

Hope everyone is healthy. I started a travel channel with my family a year ago and we have epic locations and all the toys, and good videos but our views SUCK beyond believe. Super discouraging and I don't know what is wrong. Perhaps you all could see something I don't see. Take the video I posted 2 days ago for example. As of yesterday it only had 8 views. Today it has 17 (wow, I'm going to throw a party). I posted it on their insta where we have almost 4K followers, I posted on my facebook where I have 5K friends but yet, 8 sorry views. I have VidIQ, I have keywords on the video, I mean I just don't know what else to do.

Can someone please share some light as to what may be happening here? The rest of the channel's views are just as bad. If you see anything above 1K views is because I did google campaigns not because it got it organically

Thanks so much for your help in advance. These videos take so much to produce and it's really devastating to see these views so low. Have a great day everyone.

hi, congrats on 1st post, you seem very advanced = google campaigns, vidiq, editing/thumbnails, but this seems to be the organic reality

I have passed that level, just accept it as is, enjoy the memories you are creating and show off to friends & relatives how much fun your family is having

I see you're putting in effort so I'd like to give you some of my recommendations as a passerby.

Your videos need more length. I recommend hovering around the 15 min mark as you typically need more time watched for youtube to consider your video worth sending. An exceptional average retention would be around the 8 min mark.
Other than your mic being mostly audible in the left ear, I found the video to be well edited on a technical level but the structure is off.
I'd imagine when people are clicking on travel videos they are looking for an experience of a destination. This video feels more like a recap rather than an experience. You don't use the on site footage for much more than B-roll material.
You're looking to sell the experience of a location but 40-50% of the video is spent back in the "Recap Lair". Try to do some of the talking on site for some locations, speech will also come off more organically that way.
People can watch beautiful drone shots and travel footage anywhere, but on youtube you should be looking to package in your family's personality. That seems to have taken a backseat for a more bite sized montage of sorts.
In short, you guys do some awesome things but skim over them too quickly. You can add time to a video without diluting the overall experience. I recommend watching other travel channels to see how they integrate their footage. Van/Bus Lifers are pretty decent at it.

I hope this didn't come off as aggressive and that you are able to make some use of this. I've spent months working on videos that few have seen but through adaptation I've found some success. Even if you don't like my advice I'd encourage you still to experiment. Don't get stuck in a mold.

Hey Wallace Thanks for your reply. It's well received. I have heard in the past the length issue. I've heard to make them just over 10 minutes. The audio on site is something I don't have a lot of right now but for future trips for sure I will use. I just changed the format of the videos to be the whole family vs just the two bros so the next videos we film will def have that. I'm editing costa rica right now which is under the same problem but will try to extend these videos. These problems tho affect the retention I would think, but the low views off the bat is what driving me crazy.

Thanks so much tho.

100 % we are. Would like some encouragement from the algorithm to keep going tho lol

I am in the same niche. And it can be hard to push for longer videos without filling the videos with a lot of junk.
I believe it just takes longer to grow in the channel niche and we face stiff competition from smartphones.
One positive is that what we do is ''evergreen'', so the videos have the same value for several years ahead compared to the gaming niche.

Your channel generally remains me of ADVENTURE CAMPitelli, who started out the same time as us, and I remember them getting a breakthrough via 1 viral Costa Rico video. Lets hope our breaks comes soon. ;)

Thanks for your feedback. I'm going to check out that channel. Hoping for that breakthrough for sure.
