Hey peoples. I have recently got into youtube console recording and though I would share my setup with you. This setup includes everything from the desk to the monitors and capture devices I use. Let's begin.

Desk: Mainstays Student Desk Black
Details: Small desk, but it gets the job done and can support 2 20 inch monitors
Price: Only $49.99 (USD)

Computer: Any computer with a quad or maybe even a dual core processor will do.

(Optional) Editing Program: Adobe Premiere CC Any default program will do really.
Details: Amazing program for editing clips. I use Premiere CS6, but i don't think there is really a difference.
Price: $19.99 a month (USD)

Microphone / Camera: Microsoft LifeCam HD-5000
Price: 50-20 Dollars USD
Details: This webcam or microphone has VERY good mic quality and camera quality for it's price.

Mic Recording Program: Audacity.
Price: Free :D
Details: You can edit your voice and just record your voice. Really do anything with your voice recording with that program.

Capture Card: Roxio Game Capture HD PRO
Details: Very nice, (fairly) cheap capture card that can record in up to 1080p. Also supports HDMI, YpbPr, and Component. USB 3.0 goes into the Roxio then then into the computer. ((WARNING: IN ORDER TO GET THE CAPTURE CARD TO WORK YOU NEED TWO MONITORS.))
Price: $115-150 (USD)

Monitor 1: HP 2072a
Details: Amazing 20" monitor that supports DVI-D, VGA, and has built in speakers.
Price: $80-100 (USD)

Monitor 2: HP 2159m
Details: A 21.5" monitor that supports HDMI , DVI , and VGA. Also has built in speakers.
Price:(varies) $99+ (USD)

EDIT: Due to everyone saying elgato, if you want to ditch one monitor and pay 50 bucks more for an elgato, that is also an option.

I'm not too sure why you put a desk on that list...

I'd ditch the desk and spend the extra to get the Elgato instead of a Roxio... It's just so much better in almost every way.

If we're trying to make this cheap cut out Premier and go for something cheaper or free, as stated by @Lilikoi Juice you can ditch the desko and get a better PVR, most should have a desk already or a table, also cut out the first monitor and use the second just switch modes when you are recordin.

I'd have to agree with the elgato investment, I capture with an elgato, and the software and hardware are so easy to use, and great quality.

Yeah, like i said up above "Any default program will do really." Also when you said about the monitor thing, you seriously must have not read the details. I said " ((WARNING: IN ORDER TO GET THE CAPTURE CARD TO WORK YOU NEED TWO MONITORS.))" EDIT: Unless you are using the elgato of course.

If people are looking for a console recording setup but don't know what they need.

What if you have a laptop? Do you still need a dedicated desk and dual monitors? Also what if you have a TV? Do you still need the second monitor?
