Getting more comments on your channel?

I need some feedback on this idea of mine for my channel. I haven't really given anyone an incentive to comment on any of my videos so I am trying to change that. I was going to start giving shout outs every week to people who comment the best joke or pun on any of my videos. Do you guys think that's a good idea?

your a small channel and i doubt alot of people would care about a shout out(not trying to sound harsh).

but yea a shout out could work but coming up with a joke/pun for one might not work out well.

it might be easier to say "hey guys im doing a shout out comment for a chance"

That could work, a bit of a variation from a "comment question of the day" type of thing. It really depends how many people watch your videos, back on my old channel when I was a lot smaller (like 20 subs) I tried a comment question of the day, and never got any responses for it xD but if done right I could see it working out fairly well.

This may work if you already have enough audience. Otherwise there will simply be nobody to actually comment.
