General Information About Copyright Strike

Hey guys,

When someone gets a copyright strike on their youtube channel, it stays for 3 months. Then the channel gets back to a good standing after that period of time. And if that person gets 2 more strikes in that 3 months period. The channel will get terminated for good.

So after receiving 3 strikes, is the channel gone forever? Or after 3 months your channel will be back on with 2 strikes left?

Strikes don’t expire anymore once you get 3. But you get 7 days to get below 3 before it is terminated. If you get below 3 after, either by then being retracted or counter notifications, then your channel will come back.

Thanks for that insight. So It can come back even after being terminated. But only if the strike has been retracted or the approval of the counter notification. Otherwise not.

If someone files a counter-notification in an attempt to get their channel back when they hold no copyright in the struck videos' contents (good examples are a DJ mashup, a concert shot with a mobile phone where the shooter mistakenly thinks the copyright is theirs because they shot it, or a sports highlights compilation), YouTube will terminate the channel on the grounds of filing a fraudulent legal form.

Sorry for the run-on sentence!
