Gaming channel. What do you like to watch?

Hi,

I am currently rebranding and also trying to save for an awesome PC because currently I can no longer edit anything due to my PC being unable to run programs properly. I am still recording in the mean time and I have loads of games I enjoy and would love to do vids on and share with an audience, however I worry that some of the games may not be that great to watch.
Each game has a different pace, some full on, some laid back. Some I guess are more fun to play than to watch? I dunno.

So i was wandering what you guys think? What game genres do you enjoy watching and what genres do you dislike?

EG: Strategy games, survival, horror, puzzle, platform etc etc

Do you like watching new stuff more than old games from mega drive, ZX spectrum etc
or do you still like videos based on old games once in awhile?

Its always hard because there are so many gaming channels out there, so I wanna do a bit of research first have a better chance at making a good impact on all of you. I'm already trying to boost my energy when recording so I don't come across board or too relaxed lol
At the same time I am trying to stop myself putting on a professional persona and to just be myself. It would be a great buzz to know people 1: like my content and 2: Like me for being me and not pretending to be someone else or coming across fake. if that makes sense?

Also what are your views on swearing? I always find myself hesitating and holding back when I feel a "FK" coming on..........that sounded so wrong lol
I see many people using it comfortably and the best people are those who use it sometimes but not constantly.

I like to watch a mixture of classic games to current and more recent releases. What makes me watch videos is good quality voice overs, editing and entertaining reactions.

The genre actually doesn't matter so much. What matters is that you offer something for the audience that is different from well established channels.

I care more about the commentator than the genre or game even. I like all genres of games myself. I'm a TRUE gamer, what I mean by that is I've owned (literally, parents divorced young so I had them at different houses, 2 Christmas', etc) every console that has come out since NES. I still own most of them. I have a gaming rig I've bought/built myself.

Also, side note, no one say "wow rich!" because we grew up pretty broke. My parents gave this stuff by working 2 jobs each, so I guess not broke, but yeah, it was hard earned and I got a job to help pay bills the day I turned 16, so, yeah, anyway...

I like every genre. I would say my bottom 3 are Sports, Driving/Racing, and Fighting. But I still like Street Fighter/others, Need For Speed and more simulator ones like Turismo and such, and I enjoy sports games sometimes too, haha. I really play and enjoy every genre -_-

My kinda gamer! It was heart breaking saying goodbye to my megadrive etc but I have emulators on the PC and a controller so the nostalgia is still there.....doesn't beat the real thing though haha.
I tend to only like sports games if we can beat each other up or ram each other like burnout or demolision racer.

Nice to hear so far that peeps dont mind the game. My main worry was for the original fallout games. I love fallout, especially the originals however they are more tactical and slow paced, which may require lots of cutting because the battle sequences can take a long time. I just wish I still had the moment I missed a run away raider every time and eventually killed her by throwing a rock at her head lol

I like FIGHTING Genre games because MORTAL KOMBAT has been my Fav game since my childhood, I am JUST into FIGHTING. Racing games like NEED FOR SPEED is awesome too, all I want is to win the race. I don't dislike any genre, all games are awesome.
The commentary made in the LETS PLAY videos matter a lot. Funnier commentary and weird reactions help to grow the channel community. Swearing is okay, even the PEWDIEPIE swears a lot, but we shouldn't be swearing extensively.

For myself, I agree with the notion that the genre doesn't matter, as long as the game creates the grounds for great content. Good reactions. Good game play. Good way to bring out the youtubers personality.

IMHO. There are only two things that can drive viewers. Following a tried-and-true formula, and being yourself while doing it. ...

Hell to the yes mortal kombat rules. I even have a scorpion costume and home made mask from america. I wanna get MK XL so I can do an alien vs predator match lol

Thanx a lot people. I oftwn worry about the more slow paced games like heroes of might and magic, C&C etc. Also point and click games I enjoy but find there is a lot of talking so I dont know whether to talk over them or not. But if I do it then sounds like a garbled mess because 2 people are talking at the same time which isnt good lol
Discworld is my fav and prefer to have the celebrity voices than subtitles so its tricky to find a good balance.

Ok I shall work on my own delivery and commentary, and also ensure to cut out any bits that run a little flat or areas that wont ruin the story for the audience. As I know it would seem a little strange for the audience jumping from one section of the game to somewhere completely different and missing out sections of the story

I would echo what the others have said but also add that certain games, trending or popular can bring in audiences to your channel. It's up to your personality to keep them there! So play whatever the flavour of the week is but make sure you hook them in!
