Gaming Channel VS Vlog Channel? OPINIONS!

Hey everybody!

I made this Thread because I wanted to get some answers for some awesome people ;)

Gaming Channel VS Vlog Channel....
Right now I'm really thinking that gaming is a REALLY saturated category, because EVERYBODY can sit down and use their console/computer to record some games. It's like there are MILLIONS of Minecraft channels(and other gaming) out there....

On the other side gaming is a good category because there are so MANY gamers, and its easy to get some views because of all the gaming searches on YT.

I don't know that much about the vlog category. But i don't think that it is as saturated as gaming.
When I talk about Vlog Channels I talk about: "No Gaming Channels" (Caspar Lee, NigaHiga...) Not necessarily "vlogging"

I can easily come up with original content for both categories. But what is the best way to get some kind of success on YouTube?

I know I can do both, so just ignore the "you can do both" option (Right now I'm doing both things...at 517 subscribers)

I know you guys will say I should stick with the thing I like the most, but I like both categories. So please just tell me your experiences.

I just want the Pros and Cons about the categories :)
I would be happy if you guys could give me some answers to my questions.
To sum things up:

How saturated is the gaming category (Minecraft?, GTA 5)
How saturated is the "Vlogging" category?
Views statistics for gaming and "vlogging"?
The Results of Doing VLOGS and GAMING?
and last:
what is the best way to get some kind of success on YouTube?

Both are 'saturated'. Top gaming channels outperform most top traditional vlogs by a large margin.
There is no best way.

Edit: I was writing a long response to this but honestly I don't think it's that useful. So I'll just misquote something I once heard. "Work hard at something everyday for a year and then look how far you've came".

Video games are most likely your best bet. In my opinion, the best video game channels no longer are active (Prisoner36 and Pvt. Joker are a few). Everyone wants to be a pewdie pie (not sure if spelled correctly) and that kind of saddens me.

Yea, okay. I liked your "misquote xD"

I have never heard about the channels you are talking about (besides pewdiepie). But if everybody wants to make gaming wouldn't that ruin the situation and make gaming the worst bet? (over flooded gaming videos)

Does anyone one know anything about the Minecraft corner of Youtube? (I have heard it should be the most saturated)

Everyone with a phone can record their adventures on minecraft so i would say it's not your best bet lol Also if you have not seen the old prisoner36 videos then you sir have homework to do. People have been copying him for years without giving him proper credit (granted alot of people had no idea, because they copied the others).

That was what I thought about the Mine craft category, I guess the only good part about it is that the kids quit YT after a week if they cant reach 1 million subs. xD

Yes, i have to look at the Prison dude, even though i don't watch cod anymore. #oldschool

I don't see why you couldn't do both. I know pewdiepie is probably an extreme example but as far as I am aware his videos aren't just gaming anymore, there is a certain vlog element to them

Just do both if that's what you enjoy doing and what's been giving you success. Both categories are "saturated" but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Youtube is very much a catch-22 situation; the more popular a niche, the more channels there will be that cover that niche, but that makes the niche more popular, etc. If you cover a unique niche with 0 saturation that no one is searching for, you'll still get no views.

Thanks guys, I think I have been overthinking this "problem" too much in my mind. Well I guess if the videos are entertaining people will still watch even though its a IRL video or a funny gaming video.
