Game Volume Interferring With Microphone Volume

If you have a Windows computer you can actually amplify the microphone, you gotta be careful though since the amplification can mess with the speaker in your pc and start making horrible noises like the ones you hear when putting a microphone right next to a speaker. Just google "Amplify microphone" or something, it should be in your recording devices options or whatever is called.

OP:

I have the microphone boosted to 30.0 db

You already have FRAPs, so doing the Audacity method is the cheapest. Just start Audacity and make it start recording. Alt-Tab back in to your game and snap your fingers in front of the mic at the same time as you press your FRAPS record button. This will give you an audio spike in the Audacity track that you can cut to to perfectly sync up your two files and you can adjust the volume as you see fit.

DXTory is good for doing the multi-track thing, but it has it's own issues.

Tarmack do you mind clarifying what you mean by DXTory issues? I'm trying to change my software setup slightly as well since VAC has been nothing but headache for me, but neither Adobe Audition nor Audacity allow you to record from multiple sound cards at the same time. (Multiple sound cards being USB headset speakers and microphone, which is treated as two different devices by windows.) I've seen you provide valuable feedback on many similar threads, it would be great to have some more explanation if you can spare the time.

I just started using DXTory last night and recorded 6 videos on it. I had to fiddle with the settings for a bit as it was a bit clunky in that department but once I figured out where everything was I was able to record quite easily actually. I'm going to be processing and uploading them today.
