It mostly depends on what type of content you'll be making. It certainly helps your on-camera persona to be funny or informative, but it's not something that you absolutely have to do. Entertainment is the key and what you need to focus on. If it's entertaining someone, that's all that matters.

That is completely up to how good you can make your video and how much competition there is on your content, it doesn't matter what category it falls into as long as your creating something that you put effort into and try to invent your own niche through your personality. You can even create a persona on your videos like I have done since people enjoy those videos a lot more. You'll be testing a lot when you first start YouTube to see what type of video most people enjoy from you but it won't necessarily matter if you just want to have fun with it.
