Free video editing software

I am sure this has already been asked, but can anyone suggest a decent video editor, which can be used to edit simple animation videos, thanks!

Lightworks has a free version which is very good, probably the best free editor!:
lwks.com

Also VirtualDub is pretty good for editting. :
virtualdub.org

Also VLMC seems like an awesome editor if it comes out anytime soon, so i would keep an eye out for that. : videolan.org/vlmc

i don't know if its too obvious to say, but windows movie maker is pretty good, as long as you don't want slo mo or picture in picture, or anything too fancy - for simple editing, it gets the job done :)

Well there is always Blender. It is very powerful but has an awkward interface. However, if you want one of the best 3d animation softwares out there you can get 3ds Max. It's about 3500 dollars but if you are a student all you have to do is say where you go to school and you can download it for free.

I have to agree that Lightworks has a pretty powerful editor that is surprisingly free, but I found the interface a tad awkward.

Movie Maker 2.x isn't good, but if you don't need any effects or advanced editing features it is very usable.
