FRAPS Vs. Dxtory!

So, today I got Dxtory, as my friend was whining and complaining it was so much better than fraps, and he made it sound so amazing and such. I wasn't too sure how to set it up, and then I saw a thread made by Dananuh on Dxtory settings! I set it up, and then started recording a bit from games I've LP'd/plan to LP. I figured I could help someone out. I'd show the clips, but alas, I cannot post links.

My pro/con list goes as follows:

Fraps:
+ Easy Set Up
+ Frames stay roughly around the same the entire recording.
- Does not record multiple audio sources.
- Difficult to recognize games, at times.
- Almost too simple for serious PC Gamer Commentators.

Dxtory:
+ An Array of options.
+ More professional feel.
+ Records as many audio sources as you wish.
+ Smaller File Sizes
- In no way as simple as Fraps
- Seems Framey when recording begins.
- May have crashed with Don't Starve (I might test this again later on.)

Over all, I prefer FRAPS, and that might be because I've been using it for months now. I really love the feature of being able to record several different audio ports, although for someone who just wants to click and go, it takes a bit more than that when it comes to Dxtory. It all depends on what you like the feel of better, because in over all, the slight advantage Dxtory has over Fraps isn't major, to at least me.

Tbh watch my vids ;) if you honestly believe that fraps is too "simple" for serious gamers then ask TB or Jesse cox or even Husky why they use it lol simple as.

Oh and lets not forget the yogscast :)

Fraps is easy because it is well designed. you say you cant record multiple audio's but if your editing your vids properly as TB etc do then your using a program like, but not necessarily, audition to ensure sound quality and to ensure your ability to iron out and flaws in the audio (buzzes etc) using its tools. So you don't want Fraps to record both because if it does you'd effect the quality of everything with changes that are only necessary for one thing.

my 2 pence ;)

You have a point. It's very nice to be able to push and play, but it's still really great quality.[DOUBLEPOST=1366585884,1366585844][/DOUBLEPOST]

No problem ;). It gives me really good quailty in a Skype call without have to record my sounds through my computer :).

i use fraps because it just works. :D

I didnt like the options in dxtory, un-necessary, i just want to record smooth at the frames i set, Fraps has this covered.

Playing the game is my main thought. I have adobe audition open and recording the sound, when finished i have to get everything into premiere pro and edit it. One less program to mess about with settings in is a good thing!
