Loving YTtalk
i used to use camtasia, it got all s****y, so now i switched to FRAPS, and the mic audio is out of sync with the video, and even worse than that, the game audio is all wonky too. what should i do?

Try switching to Dxtory. It's an awesome program that I use to record my gameplay. Check my channel out to see the quality and stuff!

I had this problem too! If you're not getting DxTory, there's one other solution. It's annoying, but it works. Just record Fraps without the microphone option, and open Audacity at the same time. So, in short, you're running Fraps to record the video and game FX, and Audacity to record your commentary only. Hope this helps. :D

Always record your voice separately from FRAPS. It will save you so many headaches later with volume levels.

ok, but how do i signal myself to be able to sync my voice with the game video? do i say "1,2,3 start" and then press a button so that i can move the word "start" to the moment i pressed the button, or somehow set bothe audio and video to begin recording at the same time, like putting both fraps and audacity to the same hotkey or something. any suggestions?

Well, if you use Sony Vegas like me, all you really need to do is to splice off and adjust your audio and video track's timings to be the same. Just export your recording in Audacity to somewhere like the desktop, then drag the .mp3 file into Sony Vegas' timeline.

It's incredibly easy and you'll face palm when I tell you this.

Hit record in Audacity (or program of choice). Tab into the game. Snap your fingers in front of the microphone when you press the FRAPS record button. :) Then cut the audio at the snap point (big vertical audio spike) and your tracks are now perfectly sync'd.
