For Or Against Multiple Channels?

I was having this discussion with a friend the other day and we were wondering what is better. He thinks that you should have multiple because it groups your videos out easier but then I said that is what playlists are for. What do you think?

Personally I couldn't handle 3 -5 channels but the thing that really doesn't work is when people with 10 subs make like 5 channels. I mean when you are at that stage you want to get partnership 1st at least. I couldn't handle more than 1 channel. I can hardly handle youtube, facebook, blogger and twitter let alone another 3 youtube channels.

My view is there is no right or wrong question to this, it is just what suits you best. Are you for or against?
 
It depends on the channel's type. If you have a channel that you only upload FPS gameplay's maybe it wouldn't be very well accepted if you started doing Vlog's so it would be better if you created another channel dedicated to that.

I agree that low sub channel's shouldn't have multiple channel's. Instead focus on the main one only.
 
i'm for having more than one channel if you do more than one video type :p like i have a channel for all my vlogs sketches and basically anything involving a video camera, then i have a channel purely for lets plays, i also have another channel that is just got random videos that i didnt know what to do with tho xD
 
I have two channels myself, so I can't say that I'm against it. However, I do believe that you can get excessive with it, like having 5 channels. Plus, the more you have, the less likely you are to update each individual channel.
 
i think the purpose of multiple channels is if you have videos of complete different topics and you plan to keep up with all those channels. but if you are sticking to the same general theme, but want to make categories of videos within your channel, thats when playlists are the better option. for example, my channel is a fashion/beauty channel. i have different playlists for outfit of the days, hauls, makeup tutorials, and tag videos. but all my videos are under the same general theme of fashion/beauty related topics.
 
As long as a person isn't making multiple channels just for the sake of having multiple channels, then I think it's ok. I'd say 3 at absolute maximum.

When I get bigger I was thinking of opening a second channel were I can have a 40 minute (maybe) long video of me showing how I make my videos, but that's something that may happen a lot later.
