For LPer's...

What I do for microphone editing:

Record voice in audacity
Remove noise effect after sampling noise
Compressor with 9:1 ratio
Normalize to 0.0DB

One in premiere pro, apply a Multiband compressor to the audio clip, and use the pop master preset

That's my own thing I came up with. I'm sure there's an actual science to this audio editing stuff. But hell, all that really matters is if it sounds fine at the end of the day haha.
Well that's helpful...but I really want to know is do you keep both your game recording software and Audacity open at the same time?

I know that. It's just have you ever tried opening both Audacity and Elgato at the same time? Or have you just been exporting files separately then editing in Audacity?
I usually just export and edit in audacity, it's much easier. If I use audacity I will load it up and start the recording then immediately record on elgato, both open and recording at the same time. You will just need to trim the silence of audio before the recording. I hope this answers your question :)

Audacity + El Gato game capture :) depending on the console I am using a sync it by counting for the xbox I sync the way Achievement hunters do, by countining 1 2 3 1 2 3 ont he guide :) Playstation maybe on the pause screen or the menu ^_^

Also I put them to record at random time and sync them on final cut lol

I think that's what I'll start doing. When export the audio into Audacity for some reason I have to convert the file AND there is a lot of background noise even after I edit with Audacity. However, when I record with Audacity from the start I can remove it way easier.
