For game commentaries...

Hey there, just moving to this to the Strategies & Technique Advice section of the forum. I don't mind commentaries during a game. As long as it's about the game, not too off topic and not constant talking :) I don't watch many game plays....but when I do, I watch TheRadBrad. I really enjoy his commentary!
 
I find that first person shooters are easier and faster to do a commentary afterwards while for slower games where you can take your time, doing it live is better. For Call of Duty for example I very much prefer to do the commentary after the game is over.
 
What games do you play? Right now, all my stuff is live commentary, and thats just because i dont think i could script and do stuff after the fact. But thats just me, i guess it all depends on your style and what you want to bring to your channel.
 
I would think a live commentary would be much more fun, but it might also lead to some serious rages and whatnot, that you wouldn't have to worry about if you recorded commentary after. Hmm... I'll say it depends on how much you rage (against the machine). I rage when playing the Winnie The Pooh mini games in the KH series, but I would want to keep that in. ^.^

It highly depends on the type of game and the type of video. If it's a full length walk through of an adventure game or something then do the commentary live. If you're doing highlights from a game you might want to do them afterwards.
 
As several people said, it depends entirely on what you are trying to achieve. For example, I'm gonna be making a CoD: Black Ops 2 Campaign Series soon. In that, I would do the commentary AFTER. On my Minecraft videos though, I do it DURING. It truly depends. :)
 
I alway prefer a good live commentary for my video's; however, it doesn't always work out leaving a great gameplay with bad commentary. That's when I do commentary after unless like the other poster mentioned, CoD. MOABs were hard enough while ignoring conversation let alone having one.
