Football content and copyright issue?

Hi youtubers!

I'm wondering how dangerous this niche is. I've seen many channels upload football highlight clips, not the full match. These channels get more than 100k views on their most popular clips, and still have a yellow bar on 10th second. Is that a sign for monetized?

Can you get away with it if you mixing them together? For an examples: Top 10 Messi goals, best worldcup goals, football bloopers compilation, etc. How about sidedish contents that don't use TV footage like: Hottest worldcup fans or fans reactions after England lost?

I'm a risk avoider. If it's not safe, I won't bother doing it. Thanks!
 
its one those fair use issues where if you are reviewing it like top 10 lists, you're ok, but once you upload sometimes youtube will block the video worldwide after processing if they sense you're using some copyrighted clip

I think you might be safe to do fan reactions unless the fan sees your video and wants it removed. As for pro footage, I'd put it on a channel you wouldn't mind getting shut down. I have one un-monetized clip on my channel of an NHL player's slapshot knocking my camera out of my hands. I contacted the NHL legal people and they said I could upload as long as it's for non commercial use (I can't sell it or monetize it). This sucks because GoPro wanted to license the video and use it for something. I think because it's un monetized I can share here, but I may be wrong. Mods if I'm wrong, please delete the link. Notice my wording at the bottom of the description...
