Food/Nutrition channel; best promotion strategy?

Hello there,

Firstly, I am new to yttalk and finding this platform immensely helpful.

I have a food/health/nutrition channel, and was wondering if I could any insights on the best way to promote my channel. Currently, I am dependent on facebook and google+, but either of these platforms don't help me get many subscribers. I try to do my best with the technical side (good camera, editing, tags, keywords etc).

Any key insights or strategies that I could use? Also, any other youtubers with food/health related channels out there? Would love to hear from ye.

Cheers!!

I also run a cooking channel. I'm currently experimenting with reddit to see if I can make that work in my favour (I've heard it can be a pretty ruthless place though) so I'm being a bit cautious. I don't promote anywhere near enough because I haven't developed a strategy yet, I'm still a very young channel so testing out what does and doesn't work before coming up with a strategy. I'd recommend you perhaps find things that work for you, try reddit, Facebook groups, commenting on other videos etc and note down what gets a good response and gains you views and subs. rinse and repeat. For me at the moment, commenting on other videos has been great. I gained 10 subs in a few days off of 1 comment. I don't just randomly comment for the sake of it though, I comment because I want to and I never ever ask them to check out my channel or anything like that

Thanks AdamsEats! Yes. I am trying to figure out what works best. I haven't got a hang of how reddit works yet. Google plus and facebook are my usual places. Commenting on relevant videos without spamming sounds like a good strategy.
Btw, your videos are good, liked the pan-fried sea bass recipe.

Cheers!

Open a stall and sell cookies/cakes at the local Sunday market, write your channel url on packaging and tell everyone walking by about it. You'll probably get 300-1000 customers during the day, even more if you price the cookies to sell. Do that for a month and you'll likely have hundreds of people check your channel out, way more than commenting on random videos and spamming social media.

Good idea!! Other than the fact that I would probably have to hire somebody with a decent experience of cooking/baking :P
