Hi all,
For the first time ever, one of my channels is getting around 250,000 views per day. From December to January its rocketed from 9k a day to 250k & it's stayed pretty constant ever since.
Fantastic! ... I thought, now all I have to do is wait for the January lull to pass & then I should (based on previous years stats) be averaging $1.81 RPM which could potentially earn me $450 per day .. but something tells me it's not going to be that easy.
Throughout January my RPM has been averaging at $0.36, which is pretty standard for this time of year, but normally (for me) my RPM it's back to around $1.81 by the start of February, but worryingly it's still stuck at $0.36.
I know it's still only the first week of Feb, but I'm starting to wonder if it's my traffic demographics (& not the advertising lull) that's keeping the RPM down?
In the past, a good chunk of my traffic came from the US, but since the views increase, 25% of it is now from Vietnam, so could this be the reason?
By the way, almost all the views are coming from either suggested videos or browse features on YouTube, the vast majority of viewers are 25 - 34 & audience retention is around 35%
I'm really excited (or was) to finally get a decent amount of daily views, but $90 a day for 250k views has put a bit of a dampener on it :<
Sorry if I've waffled on a bit .. & thanks for any insights.
Fuzzy.
