'Cause Grades.
Hiy Gaiz

So for the New Year, I plan to reopen my channel as a League of Legends channel full of awesome content. In that timespan, I want to get a bunch of videos in advance so i won't be clogged up as I was before.
Now to the problem-

I recorded some gameplay with Camtasia 2 and I export it. It's HD and when i open in Quicktime- still HD. Then I import it into FCPX aaaaand its like 480p. I say okay, then I import it into iMovie- same problem. WHAAT IS TEH PROBLEHM?!

What format is it?

When importing to FCPX, it will re-encode the source to ProRes422 format, but the resolution should remain the same. When you create a new project you are able to set the resolution for that project. Check your project properties as I have a feeling your project properties are set to a low resolution, hence it will downscale your video files when placed on the timeline.

Alternatively, create a new project. When you get the dialog for the project properties, don't set a resolution. Choose the option to set the resolution to whatever the first clip you insert into the timeline is. Thats what I usually do ;)

Thanks I'll try that!

How did it go? If you're still stuck here's a guide. You get to this screen when creating a new project
