Filming in a poor lighting location

How do you manage it? I live in Vienna, and in the winter we don't have much sunlight here, probably never strong enough to be the only source of light for filming.
How do you guys film in such condition?
I know about three point lighting, but I find that it's something that's not very mobile and sort of forces me to do a very static video.

it's tough, i feel your pain lol scotland isn't that bright either but your best bet is to film midday, in a bright room(not just well light but brightly coloured) and angle so that the natural light is aiming at you. it's not optimal but thats the best i can think of without proper artificial lighting.

An easy start might be to try to use reflectors to bounce some of the natural light onto the face of the subject. Then, later, you can add a portable light or two until you see what works for the locations you are using.[DOUBLEPOST=1351172026,1351171576][/DOUBLEPOST]You might also try some lens filters, which are usually inexpensive. Another (free) solution is to experiment with software fixes. Try boosting the contrast and doing some color correction.

What can I do on Sony Vegas to improve the lighting?
Are normal desk lamps allright for shooting or should I buy some other stuff?

We would use studio lighting and as much natural light as possible.

You could also get those mini LED hotshoe panels. They work pretty well, but the range of light kinda limited and your video may appear to vignette if not used correctly.
