Fair to say I'm getting f*cked?

GoonOnFire

I've Got It
I won't say who my contract holder is, but I'm the Revenue share, 85%....

Now, I have been gotten (in the past) 350K views a month, but only 150K could be monetized.

Since I was on the revenue share, my CPM for that month... came out to

Wait for it

$0.79 CPM.

No, not a joke. $0.79 CPM.

Is this normal? From what "they" tell me, apparently now everyone is switching to revenue share and CPM is a thing of the past.

So be straight with me. AM I GETTING SCREWED?

Every. SINGLE. TIME. I ask about the payment, there is always a new twist. Always a different rate or payment method.

Anyone?

Huh I thought it was normally about 1$ per 1,000 views but I know that can vary depending on the ads that were ran and stuff. So even for 150k it should be more than a few cents. It should be like a lot more than that I would think

There's multiple things that can affect CPM on YouTube ;
Viewership location
Demographics (ages 34+ don't pay as well)
Demographics (male pays lower than female)
Average Watch time
Short videos (videos under 1-2 minutes are unlikely to get high-paying trueview advertising, under 30 seconds and they won't show at all)
Devices (Mobile, Tablet, Console & TV is still far behind on the amount of playbacks/ impressions being bought)

That is quite low CPM you got there like after winter holidays, but it ain't worst. If you are not locked in with machinima or whatever network you are in, you might leave them and check revenue just by partnering with YouTube. Also as others said cpm depends on other crucial factors, like watch time, retention, demographics, age etc.

News to me. YT Analytics still quotes/uses both playback and impression based CPM.

Sounds like "they" are taking you to the cleaners well and truly.

Networks used to cap CPM rates and take anything that went over a certain threshold but recently (the past couple of years) they have moved to a RevShare model.

Thanks for the responses guys and sorry for my crass language... I wrote that late at night.

Anyway, I had an old thread back here telling you guys that on my contract before, it was 2.50 CPM and everyone said that was low too.

Weren't people in the past getting 8 dollar CPM's?

Sorry if I don't understand, I just thought it was MUCH higher.
