Facebook Pages - How do you promote and engage on them?

Michael

I Love YTtalk
I have been thinking a lot about this lately when it comes to using Facebook pages to promote your videos on, do most of you tend to stick to just posting videos or do you provide any other info on your Facebook page? Do you do anything in particular to help better engage those who have liked your page? Do you post more personal updates on yours?

For me with YTtalks FB page I have mostly posted the latest YTtalkTV videos on there and forum related announcements such as when VOTM starts and the voting rounds. I havent really posted anything on there personal but then again the page is for the site and not myself so getting personal would feel out of place but I guess if I had a personal channel with an audience I would probably post updates now and then to do with my life etc or perhaps a good joke.

What do you think is best or works best?

I prefer seeing this as something you should do naturally and want to do otherwise it will come off as too "businessy" for lack of a better word. I know I am more likely to ignore updates on FB that sound like theyre from a business and really formal. I have never been keen on any promotion where its clear someone is being paid to do it like a social media organiser posting on behalf of someone or a company.

How about you? Share your thoughts :)

yeah i kno exactly what you mean man take my fb fanpage for example i try to post regularly because I dont want to just post my videos then leave for a week then comeback and post another I give my fb fans video updates, upcoming video screenshots just to tease them, or really just anything i find interesting(mostly youtube related) but just anything to engage myself more with the little fans I have.

I feel like I should be better about posting more updates than just new episodes, but there's only so much one person can do and I really don't like Facebook.

I don't like it either but it is a machine for new fans cuz when a fan likes something he shares that on his page, someone will go check it out and he will like it too and it will share on his page and on and on and on and on :D

I do some random updates, the odd funny picture... but tbh most of my bits go on my normal Facebook for now ^^ Twitter + Tumblr gets me the rest

@Simon How do you use twitter+tumblr together to gain more views? I have both and also a FB page. I am researching now on how I can connect all of the them in some way.

I've been told that my Facebook fanpage is the best page EVER!! I post a lot of pics of Asia and I, I've been working on memes for it, I update from my phone while we're out, ask questions, write notes, and its connected to my Twitter so it updates automatically. I try to be engaging as possible on the page, talking and commenting with anyone who decides to stop by. Its not nearly as time consuming you might imagine. We have fun with it, and it shows.

Pretty much my uploads and occasionally post statuses about Youtube. Or I'll ask my audience a question for one of my upcoming vlogs and probably include their answers in my vlog.

I tried adding in an app to my facebook page in order to automatically post new videos, unfortunately it didn't really perform all that well. Does anyone know of a decent auto-app for this?
