External mic + lens for Canon EOS 550D

I finally decided on buying this camera, but since they sell body only I wanted to add these two extras in order to be able to film as good as possible.
Can you give me advice on which ones I should get and at what price I could find them?
If possible try to suggest non pricy but still good items

For the lens what would the options be?
Does the zooming ability make it much more expensive?

If you want a good zoom lens yes. When you zoom you will lose light. And a DSLR will get grain with low light so that is something you do not want.
I have the Canon EF-S 17-55mm that one is around $1000. Keep in mind lenses are a better investment than the body itself. You can re use camera lenses on new camera's. Atleast if it's from the same company. Canon, Nikon etc.
I would suggest a non zoom for now.

I have the 18-135mm canon lens. For me its a good all round lens for its price cause it gives your both zoom and a wide angle shot
