Equipment for Lego stop motion

ProductionPeople1

I Love YTtalk
So my friend asked me about equipment he should get for his lego stop motions. I suggested softboxes but I figured someone on here would know more about stop motion stuffs then me so what should I suggest to him?

Lego Stopmotion is what I did on Youtube from 2009 to 2012. I'd say I became pretty good and have a fair amount of knowledge from it.
A softbox isn't really necessary, just two or three desklamps positioned properly.
The best bang for your buck camera-wise would be a webcam. The most popular webcam to use is the logitech C920. (There may be better models since) But it does run 1080p for about 70$.
The most common frame rate is 15 fps, especially when starting out.
For frame capture, I recommend freeware such as Helium Frog.
Putty / Sticky tac. You will need it for EVERYTHING.
Also, fair storage space is key.

There are tons of tutorials online and you'd be really surprised how much of the Youtube community is made up of Brickfilmers.

If you're somewhat commited I'd recommend Bricksinmotion.com, which is a site literally dedicated to Brickfilms and it's set up similar to forums like this one.

Brickfilming was some of the most fun I've had. I still have my "studio" set up in my basement. Probably never to be use again. It's sort of sad.

Good luck to your friend.
