Emulator games, monetizable?

Hi,

The reason I'm asking this is because I came across two different channels, both over 3000 subscribers, that do let's plays on Aladdin on SNES. They didn't show proofs at the beginning of their videos that they own a physical copy of it and yet the ads are popping up on the videos. So, is it monetizable that doesn't involve stealing or something?

Thanks

Lol

Emulators are an easier way to record gameplay and those older games are 100% fully fledged so the experience is still there.

You can still monetize I have no idea why you shouldn't be able too.

The problem about monetization is not if you own the game or not (I don't monetize yet but heck, I played a lot of games I technically shouldn't be able to own but no one came to me comeplaining yet) but rather if the owner of the IP allows you to. For instance Nintendo, they don't care if you are recording through an emulator ot whatever, but since you are recording one of their games you will get a third party claim.

Do you know where does Square Enix stand in all this when it comes to their games from SNES, PS1 and PS2 eras?

thanks for the info man!

As long as you "make" it your own content by editing , you can easily monetize it. It's called fair use. Hit it on Google for more info. Hope i helped!
