Elgato Game Capture

Loving YTtalk
Hey guys, I was looking to make a gaming channel and record videos on the xbox 360. I came across a thing called an elgato game capture 1080p HD for $180. I was wondering if anyone has experience with one of these and if it's good or not. Also, are there any other good recording devices out there? I've heard of a dazzle and HD pvr before but i'm a noob and I'm not sure what's good and what's not so hopefully someone can help, thanks :D

Get it. The dazzle is poor quality and the HD PVR is component cables only so when you roll around to the next generation of consoles you will be out of luck as they will be HDMI only. The Elgato records with HDMI in and the out port is a USB. I use it for recording in game cinematics for motion tracking and love it. Worth the cost.

Ok cool thanks, does that mean that it will record on the xbox one?

I use Elgato Game Capture HD for my recordings. I'm satisfied with it. It's really straight forward and easy to use. I use it with almost the minimun requirements and it still works fine. It uses USB power so it has to be always pluged in when you play - you can avoid it ofc if you not record you re arrange the cables a bit, or you plug it in to your console (I usually use the second option).
It receives updtes kinda frequently - in the last update they included the YouTube Streamin option. It's a good buy if you ask me.

I have it for my recording. I really like it a lot but if you have $180 to spend on that you might want to look into the new Avermedia HD LiveGamer Capture... It's supposed to have a slightly better quality of video recording than the Elgato and it has almost all the same features... You don't need to have it plugged in to a computer all the time (you can use an SD card and upload it later)... and it's portable!
I would have gotten this but it just came out not too long ago and it wasn't out when I purchased the Elgato.

I have the elgato and I'm pretty happy with it. As someone has already stated, it does draw its power off of the usb cable that connects the capture card to the computer. In my opinion, if you can get the computer close to your console and have the bucks to shell out for it, the elgato is the way to go for recording gameplay.

Ok cool, thanks for the help! Also, did you record your "On girls that rage and swear? (black ops 2)" video with the elgato?[DOUBLEPOST=1372288986,1372288946][/DOUBLEPOST]
