How's it going everyone
? (Seriously tell me how you are doing
)
A topic I feel that could help A LOT of people. So i'm interested in your input!
What little things do you guys do to improve the efficiency of your editing? (as in reducing time spent on tasks of tedium).
Examples:
- Snapping my fingers when I press "record" with fraps, that way lining up my facecam and gaming footage only takes about 10 seconds, instead of trying to play a guessing game as to where the two streams of footage sync up
-Using TEMPLATES in Sony Vegas. THEY SAVE SO MUCH TIME. Instead of trying to redo your settings each time, you can save some preset options and use them again with a click of a button! This is great for outros where you preview videos at the end.
- Using the SHIFT key to select multiple video tracks on my time line in Sony vegas when I want to drag them all, instead of moving each track individually. (SHIFT selects all in an area, CTRL selects specific tracks)
- For Intros and Outros, I have prerendered intros and outros that I just plug in the beginning or ending of my new video, that way I don't have to go through the process of remaking them each time.
-Using the "Group" function in Sony Vegas to move multiple tracks on different layers of the timeline with each other without having to worry about them desyncing.
Etc. That's a short list, what do you guys have? I'll Edit them up into here with your name on them so people can be in awe of your superior genius braininess.
Tip from Dananuh:
Render fast using CUDA or OpenCL. (These are options within Sony Vegas that allow you to use your GPU to help with render times. These options are dependent on how powerful your hardware is. CUDA cores are for NVIDIA GFX Cards and OpenCL is for ATI GFX Cards.)
Tip from BlockDesigns:
I precompose everything and usually parent to nulls to make it easier to know where things are and what they are connected to
Tip from MoD1982:
The biggest change I've made is using two monitors; freeing up the space previously taken up by the preview monitor has made my life so much easier!
