Editing all-nighter. What are your stay-awake tips?

I've got 5 hours to finish an edit before I hop on a plane to NYC. I'm sure a lot of you have had to stay up late, either for your channel or for work or school... what are your tricks to prevent falling asleep at the keyboard?

Gamers, I'm definitely expecting some pro-tips from you guys. :P

Wine. Loud, annoying music. Any sounds, as long as it's nothing that can turn into 'white noise' after a while and make you tired.

Maybe that's just me ;) (coffee doesn't do anything to me in that way)

Yeah good ol sounds my arch-nemesis "The Cricket" has returned with a vengeance it won't stop cricketing and it has itself in a position of my basement that i can't get at easily so i can't find where its hiding. (long story short i'm up at 6:53 am with no sleep unwillingly so no one better "bug" me today) :furious:

Coffee's never kept my head from the pillow either.

I'm experimenting with my musical selections on Pandora. Vocals conflict with the dialogue I'm editing, so I'm having a lot of luck with alpha waves, film scores, and electronic music (The latter two make everything epic.) Glitch Mob FTW.

I've never really been a sleep person, as long as i get 8 hours of sleep when I go to sleep I'm happy :)

I find anything with caffeine (my favourite is coke or mountain dew) is a great way I normally keep 2-3 litres of the stuff in my fridge anyways so I'm never in low supply of my favourite drinks!

If you've got decent headphones, crank up the volume a little more than you normally would, you're mind will be used to the normal level that you have them out and will start to just ignore the music after a while, just changing the volume a little will change that for a while longer :)

Take small 5-10 minute breaks to do something else! Anything if you do it in long sessions will make you feel tired and bored, you need to take breaks otherwise you will just fall asleep no matter how much caffeine you drink!

Stay away from hot drinks, hot drinks like tea and coffee do have caffeine but the fact that they're warm makes all the difference to ice cold drinks like coke. The warm drinks will warm your body up and make it want to start shutting down. So just stay clear of Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolates. If you really want to drink tea try something like Ice Tea.. doesn't taste as nice but it's still tea, still have caffeine and is still ice cold!
