Eat24 Company Leaving Facebook - Is it time for Tubers too?

I use twitter and google+ for the viewers but I have a facebook page as well for my best friend and I duo art works and we have notice that it reaches only half of the likers o_O

I wouldn't completely leave it but I wouldn't focus on it either. I don't really post anything that can reach many people to begin with. Seems everytime I learn something useful it's already an outdated method. I'm at a complete loss regardless of what Social Media I use lol I post all my thoughts and random little rants on Twitter though. I don't bother posting much on FB or Google+ unless it's my own videos and other videos/pictures I find interesting.

I got this in an email before about Eat24 leaving Facebook entirely because of their page posts weren't reaching people and in order to do so they would need to pay, what are your thoughts on this? I have noticed that on Facebook for our YTtalk page that so few of our pages fans/likers actually view the posts we make. How do you feel about it happening with your own Facebook pages? Would you be willing to take such drastic action?

"Eat24 made a lot of headlines after it publicly “broke up” with Facebook in late March. In response to Facebook’s move of taking away the organic reach of Page posts, forcing brands to pay for exposure, Eat24, which had 70,000 Facebook fans, opted to leave Facebook. As many brands have grown increasingly frustrated with Facebook, the move caused a big stir in the marketing world, and even received coverage from mainstream news outlets like CNN. Could a brand just leave Facebook and thrive? Well, the answer appears to be yes."

For me we are not ready to pull away from Facebook but seeing how few people actually receive our updates it is very disheartening and the chance of having a higher email open rate is very interesting to say the least.

Maybe we should all use Twitter more for keeping in touch with viewers/fans/etc so we get more return for our social media efforts.
After working in online marketing for a few years, I have grown to be really really really annoyed with Facebook and their practices. Personally, I love what Eat24 did and I hope more people follow suit!

So far, I barely focus on Facebook and my marketing/copywriting business is doing well! Twitter, Quora, and Reddit are my main focus and it seems to be working for me. At least 80% of my clients come from Twitter alone and I only have about 650 followers.

Hey everyone, I'm still new around here, so it's tough to even know here to start, but I saw this thread and went, THERE. Facebook is weird for us. Our main character has one and gets tons and tons of friend requests, yet barely any of those people hop over to the show fan site despite most of her posts just being shared from there. We have half a mind to close hers down completely as it'll be one less thing to keep up with. But in the same token we're small enough that we worry about losing those few viewers it does bring in. What do you guys think?

I use Facebook for multiple pages and it seems like the only way to get people to discover my page is to tag my personal Facebook....other than that it seems as if no one is getting any of my page updates. It's totally is disheartening. I don't think I would mind pulling my FB Fanpages but I like it to be there just in case I guess. I don't have money to pay for exposure so I rather just keep doing what I've been doing. xD But then again I guess it could be partly my fault since I'm not SUPER active on my page...but that was only after I realized that I wasn't getting any "new" likers >w<
This... is... recent? She... she recently posted?? I... literally feel like I could cry... come back to us dear, but no pressure, I disappear and have trouble sticking around too.

I have been working on growing my Instagram and Facebook (Small Business Page) followers. I just passed 2,000 on Instagram, 1000 on FB. I have 1500+ 'Friends' on my regular page. Twitter, a measly 600 =)

Look, I have 100K+ subs on YouTube and I'm not paying anybody anything to increase my social reach. If I'm going to spend money, it will be on growing a mailing list where I actually have people's names and emails so that I can actually target my customer.

I get this message from Facebook with every weekly update:

Get help with promoting your Page Start to Success is a program to help new advertisers succeed on Facebook. This program is free for businesses who’ll invest $50 or more per day on their Facebook Ads for 4 weeks.

Nice. If I spend $1400 I get some free program. No thanks. In order to recover that $1400, I would have to gain 700,000 views. It is not cost efficient. As for my reach without advertising, only 20-50% wind up seeing my posts.
