Dxtory or fraps?

I've always been a FRAPS guy, it's the only program I've found that can keep a steady framerate and not lose quality. Sure, file sizes are an issue but there are easy ways around this with minimal quality loss.

In my brief experience with Dxtory, I was bombarded with options and features but performance wise it was meh.

I have both since Source games (Gmod, L4D) don't like Dxtory.

Both record uncompressed so Quality wise they should be equal, Performance wise they're pretty equal for me. (Except in Source Games)

Dxtory's interface can be daunting to get used to, but it really isn't that hard, FRAPs on the other hand is very simple and requires very little knowledge.

Also: Allot of people using Dxtory and/or Fraps that complain about FPS issues usually are recording to the same drive they are playing off od, both need a fast hard drive to maintain decent FPS. That's why I recommend you get a dedicated HDD for recordings.

The only reason I use DXtory over Fraps is options and features, other than that, they're pretty equal. :)

Neither. Get an Elgato and hook up the HDMI to your graphics card. That way you can record in full 1080p and only counting on the resources needed to run the Elgato.

Im using Bandicam but when ill have to choose between Fraps and Dxtory ill go with Dxtory. Fraps is more user friendly aplication but in Dxtory you have more options about what you wanna do and if you know how to set it u'll get really good videos

I have moved this thread to the Video Editing, Recording, Software & Hardware section of the forum for you.
