Dual Commentary - Gaming

Hello!

Me and my friend are planing to start a youtube channel. I've got a problem and hopes that someone here can solve it. As the title says we want to do dual commentary on some of our videos. The problem is that I'm not sure about how I shall do it. I've got a Zoom H4n recorder and a Rode NTG-2 microphone. The recorder have two XLR ports, and I'm planing to use two mics, so I shall get a new one soon. But do anyone know if it's possible to record with two microphones at the same time on that recorder, and sync it into one file(If you know what I mean by that). And if the file still plays on the L&R speakers, so it won't play one mic on left and one on the right.

Thanks!

That recorder looks very similar to the recorder I use which is a TasCam. When I plug 2 mics into the recorder (one in the left and one in the right) both microphones record in stereo left and right and when I open the audio file in Premiere both mics are on separate tracks which I'm guessing your recorder will also do.

Not sure how helpful that was, I'm just talking from what I know.

Thank you! that was more or less what I was after. Do you have any recommendation on microphones I should get? I'm thinking about two Blue Spark mics.

The only microphone I've ever plugged into the TasCam is a Lapel microphone while doing interviews and such, so I'm not very good at recommending a microphone :)

We use a lot of RODE microphones and they're always really nice quality.

Thanks!:p Let's wait for more people to reply:D

as a commentator i can tell you that you're not gonna need two mics. I once had up to four people in one episode and all that picked us up was one microphone, set up ur mic in between the two of you and use audacity to make it sounding nice.
