Hey guys! i'm thinking of buying a new lens for my canon 60d. Anyone have any suggestions of a good lens? preferably one that isn't too expensive and one that is good for doing sit down vlogs.

Try looking at old lenses, there are some real great deals that can be had. Look for a below 20mm lense for old SLR cameras and get a mount so you can use them on Canon gear, you can get lenses for like 50 dollars that way.

A 60D has a crop-frame sensor, so bear in mind the focal lengths will not be as they say on the lens. I would look at buying a prime at f/1.8 or f/1.4 and at either 35mm or 50mm. Remember the crop sensor and the 50mm on a small sensor is a very narrow lens, so while it is good for sitting down, it isn't great for general use.

I use a kit lens I think its the 18-135 lens. I feel like my videos aren't "crisp" looking if that makes sense. Maybe it's just my lighting or area setup though and not as much to do with the lens.

Do you mean sharp and in focus on the subject? A lot of the time it can be down to poor focusing and not having much distance between the subject and background for them to separate nicely. If its grainy looking you could lower your iso and stay within 100 to 400 Max, I always try and use 200 if I can. Having good lighting certainly helps or having a good low light lens such as a 1.8, I recorded my last two videos at around 1.8 to 2.8 without a lighting kit in dull cloudy weather indoors with a lamp on for one of them. You could try the nifty 50, its a 1.8 prime lens so you cant zoom but you can use your feet instead. Look up some test footage from it and see what you think, for around 75 quid you can't go wrong really. Lots of DSLR film makers use carry one.

Really does this work? I have a couple of lens for my new camera but would like to get a second hand/ old lens that won't break the budget and if this works then I will definitly try it.

Sure does, as long as you can find an adapter. Crop factor and other things might be weird, but yea it works.

Ok Thanks. I would guess when you say 'as long as I can find an adapter' then this means the latest adaptors won't work and that I have to find one that will fit my camera (canon x7i(japan model)/ T5i(us model) that will be able to fit an old model lens right?!

As I said, if you can find an adapter for your lense that uses Canon mounts, yes
