Hi guys,

How do you get your videos from your DSLR to iMac, to then upload them into Final Cut Pro, and most importantly, how do you upload the video to YouTube for best quality?

Thanks

I have a Macbook Pro but same basic principle. I just put my memory card in the slot and it opens up iPhoto. I import the stuff into iPhoto and it automatically imports into Final Cut Pro as well

I also use a Macbook Pro. I take the memory card out of the camera and put it into the computer and import the files into final cut pro. For the best video quality I save the file to a flash drive and upload to YT (this gives me the best quality). If you would like tonight I can write it out step by step after I get to the apartment.

I would really appreciate that mate.

Inc the best settings to save the video etc :)

I have a memory card reader, which you just plug into the USB port on your iMac. Once you plug it in a screen will pop up for you to import to your computer and then you can download it to your iMac and open it in Final Cut Pro. Save it from Final Cut Pro in HD video quality. Then after the video saves I open up a program called handbrake (Which converts video for YouTube), save the video from that and it will upload faster to YouTube and it doesn't lose it's video quality either!

***This is how I make videos with iMovie***

To Import: First I create a Event - Video Properties - set based on first clip

in that I create a project and import my files into the project

To Export:

Share - Master File - Click settings in new window
Format - Computer
video codec - H.264 Better Quality
Resolution High as you can go but should default to what you imported

Click Next and send it to where you want to file it at then upload it.
