Download YouTube Thumbnail Images

Hey There,

We all probably know that you can right click on a Thumbnail and save it to your computer. But what if you want different versions of the respective thumbnail?

You can use this method to download thumbnails off of any YouTube video.

(Replace 'VIDEOID' with the actual video id - e.g - youtube.com/watch?v=akhmS1D2Ce4 and akhmS1D2Ce4 is the video ID)


Auto-Generated Thumbnails

If you want the default 3, thumbnails that YouTube chooses here's the following links:

Small thumbnail 1 [120x90]: img.youtube.com/vi/VIDEOID/1.jpg

Small thumbnail 2 [120x90]: img.youtube.com/vi/VIDEOID/2.jpg

Small thumbnail 3 [120x90]: img.youtube.com/vi/VIDEOID/3.jpg

Custom Thumbnails

This method will only work if the video has a Custom Thumbnail uploaded.

Small thumbnail [320x180]: img.youtube.com/vi/VIDEOID/mqdefault.jpg

Medium thumbnail [480x360]: img.youtube.com/vi/VIDEOID/0.jpg

Large thumbnail [1280x720 or 1920x1080]: img.youtube.com/vi/VIDEOID/maxresdefault.jpg
