"Doodling" On a Video

Mike Kowalski

How do you do this?? I can't find this out anywhere...basically it's an effect where it looks like someone drew doodles on top of the video

For example:

"There He Go" music video by Schoolboy Q
"Herb Shuttles" music video by The Underachievers

(Can't embed a video)

The doodles are in orange. Does anyone know how to do this or what program will make me able to do this? That would be so lovely.

I would say they've found a handwriting font, then added some sort of 'giggle' animation to it through an editing software then with some of the text it looks like it's been motion tracked to an area of the video.

yea that's what I thought but it seems like it would be very hard to get 20 jiggling lines around a bottle of beer just by using text

ahh you mean the lines as well! I'm guessing they will have used a program like After Effects or Apple Motion to create these 'splashing' line effects and then just added them to the video in Final Cut or Premiere Pro, then just moved the animation to the area they want it to happen.

I've done this with after effects just by making two doodles of the same video and tracking it :)

I cant explain in detail but if we lived close to each other, i could show you...lemme see if i can explain in simple terms.

First off the transition into text is shapes that are growing towards the base.
The text itself is of a artist font(i dont know it yet but it does not matter, find which ever you want to use).
These text are motion tracked where ever you see fit.
The pop in effect is also 8+ balls, in fact VFXbro(Of youtube, partner of FinalCutKing) gave out a pack with everything you would need as far as resources.
Lastly give them a slight blur for realistic blending and strive for nothing to last longer than 5 seconds, to avoid rendering errors.

Have fun ^^.[DOUBLEPOST=1380237639,1380237407][/DOUBLEPOST]In fact if you up for taking your time and getting it perfect, edit it in photoshop then take the sound from the original and place it underneath your edited footage.
