Another great example of this type of thing JaGeX, i.e Runescape. Pretty much did the same thing.

Runescape was changed, the players told JaGeX they didn't want the changes, but they went through with it anyway, they lost so many paying members, which made them lose a lot of money. They're thinking of ways to add a new server which has the old game on it. If this makes sense?
