Hi Yttalk,
I got a question regarding my channel
Three weeks ago, my channel was terminated because 7 of my walkthrough videos contain an OST that an Japanese musician performed. She doesn't own a Youtube account and doesn't know how Youtube works. She simply didn't want her work to be used in my videos, so she requested Youtube to remove all 7 videos (which lead to my Youtube account terminated).
I was able to contact her via the email provide by Youtube. She let me know that she didn't expect that my channel would also be terminated (again, she just wanted to removed those 7 videos). Hence, she agreed to submit a retraction form under a condition that I would delete those 7 videos by myself, which I did. She submitted the form on October 26. She also forwarded a copy of the form to me so I could verify that she used the same email address that she used to requested Youtube to remove my 7 videos, and she did follow the format of a retraction form very thoroughly.
When I looked up previous extraction cases, most of them took about 10-14 business days. However, at the time I'm posting this thread, it has been more than 3 weeks already and I still haven't heard anything from Youtube regarding my channel.
I take another look at the retraction form she forwarded to me, and I noticed that she submitted it by replying to the original email that she requested the takedowns, not by composing a new email.
Hence my question is: Is that retraction form acceptable, or does Youtube system strictly requires a retraction form in a "new" email?
I have sent an email asking youtube for update with all the details they may need, but they simply reply by saying that "Your video or channel has been removed due to copyright infringement. Please visit the Youtube Copyright Center for more information". Of course I know why my channel was removed, but I was asking them if they have received the form or if the form is acceptable. I wonder if they actually read my email or simply just took a glance as my channel and gave me a template response.
I really hope Youtube accept the form. I dont speak Japanese and she doesn't speak English, so I had to ask for help for a Japanese friend of mine. However, he is currently in Nepal and I'm in the US. The time zone difference and the fact that he is also busy with work make it really hard for him to translate my emails and the claimant's emails. Since the claimant is also busy and doesn't understand Youtube well, it may take several days to more than a weeks to ask, explain Youtube to her and receive response.
Thank you for your time.
