Does watching my own videos affect stats?

A good chunk of my fans don't have youtube accounts because they mainly use it to watch my videos. Because of this, I often view videos from my account so I can show people the videos whenever I see them in person. Am I shooting myself in the foot by doing this? I know that youtube is counting it as a view whenever I click on one of my videos, but does it really matter? Is it contributing to audience retention? If it is, does that time count toward my video's rank in searches? I'm not really sure what I can do to get around this (if I log out before watching, I don't even get a view added to the count which REEEEAAALLY fucks me up considering a handful of people watch the videos from within my apartment building without logging in and NONE of their views get counted), but I'm curious as to whether or not I'm benefitting at all or if I'm just inflating the count with no real reward.

hahaha yup dude if u r watching ur own videos, u r not getting real views anyways! another reason you shouldn't watch ur own videos is, if you repeatedly watch ur own videos, ur view counts will freeze at 301+, so its better we shouldnt do that :D

It'll count it as a "view" but you won't get paid for it. Overtime it'll even go away, and become a ghost view.[DOUBLEPOST=1424025860,1424025829][/DOUBLEPOST]

It'll freeze regardless if it's you watching them, or other people.

yup bro it will freeze, but it will stay 301+ unless others give some views! :D

I figured I wouldn't get paid, but I was hoping that maybe the audience retention would hold true. Thanks for the advice, lyfewithragons. Jawad: I think you need to redefine what a "real" view is if you don't consider the views of your friends and family as real. It's my account watching the videos, but it's not like I'm just sitting here watching this s**t myself; by the time I've edited my videos, I've seen them plenty of times, and I watch it offline if I'm genuinely interested in seeing my content again. So, while I appreciate the information about the freezing statistics, I can live witout the condescending b******t about my views not being "real" :)! If you posted that comment with the assumption that I WAS just watching my own videos, then please read the full post before you respond instead of just looking at the title.

Your own views will only be counted until 301. Then the system gets serious and only counts 1 view per IP. If you stopped at the 301 view count for more than 1 or 2 days, that means those views aren´t legit.
