Throughout the time I have known what youtube is I would ponder the question if swearing in your vides gets more views. I'm not hypocrite that is going to say that you shouldn't, but it shows a level of maturity. If someone is dropping F- bombs left and right in their video it tells me that they aren't as mature as they should be. It's okay to let one slip or use it to make a joke funny, but it shouldn't get out of hand. If you agree or disagree I'm putting a poll up to see the results.

I don't see how swearing would get you more views but I guess that really depends on your audience.

I doubt it, since the content of the video won't affect whether the person will click on it or not, unless they know it has swearing in it depending on the person. I'd say no, the content of the video is independent from the search so it wouldn't have an effect on how many people will watch/find it, but more or less change how much people like it.

No! I think it turns away viewers. I mean, if someone cusses too much, I usually just stop watching. Littler kids probably wouldn't be allowed to watch :D

If it did, @JohnnyFox and @TheBatteryChicken would totally be Youtube famous by now.

I wish I was. Hell I should be at some point. Well think about it though. Now that i've had time to reflect on the issue and think about it critically. Pewdiepie says f**k in like the first 30 seconds. He's the #1 channel on YouTube BUT at the same time it needs to not be "f**k s**t damn hell a** b***h fuckrag s**t goddamnit" as your script. The viewership is more based on you being a character that people enjoy watching. The biggest youtube names swear, some even excessively, but it's more about how you promote, who you target your audience at, who you blow along the way (no pun intended; there are people that'll suck a d**k for views, not me but I know a few people who did), and what you do.

I've noticed the reason some people don't get big starting out or have been going for 4 years and never get anywhere is they never network, never share their posts, never talk to the "fans", never do anything but post it and wait. You have to go by the mantra of 90% Networking 10% video making. I learned that the hard way, because i've hyped up this donkey kong thing i'm doing for a while talking to all these twitter people and putting up the thumbnails before it went out. Day it goes up gets 50+ views vs some of my old stuff I did no promo for and never even got over 20 a month ago.

It's more about promoting and trying to get as many eyes on your screen as possible plus making something that people remember.

Ya gotta cuss in another language. Try these.

Spanish: Vete a la mierda! Usted puta madre coño!
German: Fick! Sie Mutter ficken Fotze!
Swedish: Fan! Du mor jävla fitta!

Oops accidentally voted yes!

I meant no.

So that's 7 no, 0 yes.

I don't see how swearing would get the video more views at all.

I think if the content is already funny and it adds to it then maybe. You can always tell when someone is relying on it though. They don't really have anything to say so they swear for shock value.
