Does Pinterest Work?

I use twitter and instagram to promote my videos but i recently found out that some users use Pinterest,
i havent created me an account yet but was just wondering if that even works?

what about Tumblr or reddit???

i dont have no accounts on either so some tips and advice would help, thanks!

Personally, I've only ever regarded Pinterest as a giant mood board - which, in all fairness, is ideal for design and inspiration, but not so much for marketing - that I've seen anyway. I could be wrong!

Tumblr is good; there are blogs dedicated to helping out smaller YouTubers and Reddit can be brilliant as long as you post in the right place and don't just spam. Again, there are certain subreddits dedicated to smaller YouTubers, so that's a good place to get started if you don't know the site all that well. c:

I don't think Pinterest is a good forum for advertising unless you accompany your videos with a blog post - and if they're more tutorial-y (ie. DIY type things.) Tumblr is a good place - it's easy to use hashtags to get followers as long as you obviously hashtag appropriately. You can even go around and message people and reblog their own stuff to get a following - similar to twitter but you can make your blog look prettier :) Reddit, I hear is a hit or miss. Lots of people get positive feedback but if no one likes your video then it'll be downvoted to oblivion. Plus I'm scared of the community there as they seem very forward in their language. I think you can try Google+! There's a fair amount of small communities for Youtubers and you can simply share your video and get a couple of views, have some chats with people and best of all - it's connected to your youtube account so it's simple!

I would suggest venturing into Tumblr - but even that is a hit or miss. I think Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat are your biggest leads in terms of social media presence.

I'm not too sure about how good Pinterest is in terms of marketing, I haven't heard too much about it though so I don't believe it is very effective. I'm a big fan of Reddit and think that's a really good platform to share your stuff on as long as you don't spam of course.

I have pinned every video I've made to Pinterest for over a year, and there's very little return on it. It is fun to have the boards with each of my video categories up there, but..it just doesn't seem to be a place people go for videos. The recipes do the best, because I think people go to Pinterest for recipes to begin with. I think beauty channels may do well there, but they probably have different strategies for using Pinterest other than just pinning their videos there.

If you post stuff on Instagram you might as well post the same thing on Pinterest. The reality is, a lot of women use Pinterest. There are 100 million active Pinterest users. I read one study that says 79% of Pinterest users are women. So if you have something that targets them, you gotta learn how to play in their playground. Just like Instagram you gotta have good pictures, and use proper descriptions with hashtags. Don't just create boards with only your contents. What's great about Pinterest is that when you do pin something that gets popular, it stays high in the ranking for a long time.
