Does Channel "Category" Matter?

Hi everyone, odd question!


When you create a YouTube channel you get the option to select one of the following:

• Product or Brand
  
• Company, Institution or Organisation
  
• Arts, Entertainment or Sports
  
• Other

I chose Other when I made my channel and now I have a strange feeling I should of chosen Entertainment.

Does the option you choose matter? And does it effect your channel in the long run?

Probably not really to be honest. If people are searching by category maybe? But I really can't imagine it being a factor at all

I can't even remember choosing one! I'm not aware of it making any difference, I just make sure that the video category chosen is relevant when uploading.

I can remember someone saying (please do not quote me on this as I may be completely wrong) that it only matters when you are starting up so Youtube knows where to put you. From then on it will be defined by Youtube magic that knows everything about us and who to recommend us to.

I've also always wondered this but have come to the conclusion that it wouldn't be anything considerable if at all.
