Does activating adsense lower your chances of getting in a network?

I have heard people say that if you activate your adsense you have a lower chance of getting in a network since they like to do this themselves. Does this hold any validity? If this is true is it better to wait and not monetize right away? and if you activate your adsense can you make another channel and still connect to a network since your main channel is connected to an adsense? Sorry for so many questions I am new. ^_^

no, activating adsense does not affect any chance for you to join a network
 
This used to be the case 2 years ago. It's long past that now lol, having monetization enabled doesn't delay the process or anything of that sorts.
