Do you need a thumbnail for a channel trailer?

It seems like you don't need to invest in creating a custom thumbnail for your channel trailer because that video starts automatically on page load. Just curious if I'm missing something here.
 
Well, I guess you don't have to! It still shows up on your channel in your "Videos" section, so you still might want to! My trailer is literally uploading right now and I am working on a thumbnail for it. Nothing super fancy however.
 
I made one, well i didnt make it, i used a screenshot that youtube decided. But its the start of my video (take a look if you like) it doesnt need to be anything fancy :)
