Do you have a niche channel?

Loving YTtalk
I was wondering how many of us here have a so called niche or really specialized channel? A channel that is outside of what most people on YouTube find interesting.

For example I consider my channel to be pretty specialized. There are a lot of YouTube channels that discuss military topics. However, so far mine is the only channel I know of that is almost entirely devoted to identifying ships, aircraft and military vehicles.

There is the odd channel that will talk about identifying the odd tank or a plane. Usually these channels are also gaming channels.

However I have not seen any that is solely devoted to learning how to recognize ships, planes and vehicles.

I am sure other people there have specialized or niche areas of interest.

what do you perceive as advantages and disadvantages of such channels?

For me an advantage is limited competition. A disadvantage is such a channel does not generate a lot of interest.

I play world of tanks & world of warships lol,,,,, you have good points "limited competition" "does not generate a lot of interest" but this is what you are passionate about, you are a specialist at this, professional, with time those who need this information will find you

One advantage of having a niche is that people are often very passionate about niches and so it's possible to build up a very loyal following if you do things right. It is then possible to monetize that loyal following (affiliate marketing, digital products, ebooks, patreon etc) if you know what you're doing. :)

Thanks for the responses people. Very cool to see others who also have a tight focus. Good to know be I am not the only one.

My niche is 3D printing en CAD design. Maybe not the niche with very small interest, but also not the most popular. So I think, if I do it right, it's possible to get a lot of viewers. The competition is not so high as with gaming for example.
