Do you get political on your videos?

It's hard not to talk about politics with all the craziness with this election. I've been making a few animated political videos lately. They seem not to do as well as the other ones I made where I just rant about random things. I'm not sure if I should just stick with that.

Do you get political in your vids? And if so does it help or hurt your channel?

In my opinion, unless your channel is dedicated to politics you should stay away from politics in your videos, they will just hurt your channel. However, I would imagine a channel dedicated to politics is going to be doing very well right now haha.

We are kids channel but also vlog channel so we do not shy of politically sensitive subjects.
For example in our Q&A somebody asked the kids if Japanese people have ever treated them badly because they are foreigners in Japan - so they just answered to this questions and we did not censored it!
So yes we do touch sometimes politics but it is trough the eyes of the kids - we do not give them our points of views even though indirectly we may influence them).

PS. I do not know if it helps or hurts but for sure our viewers appreciate the honesty. I think it helps to make real connection with them.

Occasionally use it for comedy materiel or inspiration. But I don't want to use it too much because I don't want it to become a political rant place.

I stay away from it. I saw a kids channel use a trump bobble head doll and surprisingly it was not offensive at all (in my opinion) and not really political. Trump briefly talking to dinosaur toys about having a wall built. But that was before when he was a less serious contender.

ive considered using toys for a mock election. To make a topical video. With ridiculous mandates for kids. But everyone is too sensitive, seems like it would be more trouble than its worth. I dont want to turn anyone off to my channel.

but yeah would depend on your audience if they like that kind of stuff.

Stay away from politics, religion, news items and all the other similar stuff that basically stuffs up our world.

People watch YT to get away from that crap.

I believe there's a subtle art to having a poltical opinion and being able to present it without polarized your audience

Not very often, no. My video subjects aren't very political at all (hair care, cooking), so it's easy to stay away from those subjects. Sometimes, I'll talk about inclusion or prejudice, but only on the most surface of levels, really.

I've moved your thread to the strategy / technique forum. :)
