Do you ever feel down when you have big ideas but your audience doesn't grow much?

DeantheDinosauce

Cartoonist/Animator
I started uploading around Aug 13th, so it's been less than a month. I had been on YouTube before (Twice), once as a kid with a camera doing awful vlogs (Which only live on my external hard drive and will never see the light of day again) and second as a gamer under the channel name "TheDayGamers" which is still alive today, well, it isn't because I don't game anymore (Computer is terrible for gaming). I consider my two old channels to be me finding me feet with YouTube.

I have big ideas for DeantheDinosauce and I try not to get phased when I see the numbers on my channel and videos because I have faith that it will pick up over the next year or so. However, I'm not immune to being phased, after all I'm only human. I have just updated my profile on this forum and when I went to my profile I saw that the statistics for my YouTube channel where displayed - and hadn't changed. I have 6 videos (which will obviously change) but the one thing that got me was that I still had 2 subscribers.

Now, before you put me on the spit for trying to get pity - I'm not, I'd want people who enjoy my work to find my channel and hopefully subscribe, not pity votes, because pity gets nobody anywhere in this area as there won't be any constructive criticism.

Although YouTube is getting more difficult to get noticed, I'm promoting myself as much as I possibly can so people know I exist. Everyday channels are being created, a very small amount of those channels are going to become the big ships in YouTube's harbor in a few years and we'll know all their names.

I get down sometimes when I find my audience isn't big at all, so I wanted to ask you, do you ever feel down when you have big ideas for your channel but your audience is very small, Even when you know you put a hell of a lot of work into your videos - Then find they have very very little views?

i see where your coming from man! i use to get down my self but now i use it as motivation and work harder! keep the big ideas coming man Eventually your hard work will get the spotlight :)

it takes a bit of time dude, subscribers tend to come in spurts, i've noticed on my main channel anyways :p after the first month or so i only had 20(mostly friends) then i got a random jump on month to fifty, then aaaages after that i gained about another 95 randomly(coincidentally around the time i joined yttalk and started promoting my vids :p) just stick in there and you'll get your audience, i'm currently going through it all again with my new gaming channel with only 3 subs haha :D

Yeah I've felt down when I can't get my audience to grow but don't give up keep trying I'm sure your fanbase will grow

yeah I used to be the same way man as you post more and more on youtube you build up patience. Also you should promote your channel dont depend solely on youtube to gain an audience there are many other promotion sites and networks including here at (yttalk) to get your videos out there if you need some sites just message me.

TELL me about it!! HAHA If you wanna get the least bit of attention on the big YT you got to work your butt off! I do and I still not noticed!

I don`t know why nowadays everyone seem already after like a month getting self doubt that he is doing something wrong or the audience don`t notice him and similar thoughts. I have to literally push my Friends almost Weekly to stop that melancholy b******t and finally start working because you don`t get anything on YouTube for Free if you don`t work for it hard.

Let`s recap...

When even someone like Ray William Johnson needs more then a hole Year to get noticed then I would say give it a Year and afterwards you still can start getting self doubt. While I don`t really understand why you even get those feelings because you should always create an Channel because you like what you do in first place and not because you want to get liked by the audience for doing it or something similar.

...absolutly no YouTube Star is born in a Month, even Justin Bieber didn`t accomplishment that...

Yes it`s true that every Day there are 100.000+ of new Channels created and filled with new Content but I still kinda like that System because it `s make sure that everyone of those 100.000+ new User are making sure that YouTube never get`s boring and that everyone have the same equal chance to be the next Viral s**t we all jump on and enjoy and keep talking about.

Stop being a Drama Queen and pull yourself together and focus on your Content, everything else is a waste of your time...

straight forward and to the point. i couldn't agree more my friend. we have a lot of youtubers who are completely impatient and not letting things play our first. content is a HUGE deal, and so is networking and promotion. things don't happen on its own.

I get that often, but it's a reason to keep plugging away at it. Eventually the cog in the machine will catch onto something and we'll get spinning, just a case of putting quality content that appeals. Even if it's to a niche market, if it's worth watching, then it's worth watching.
