Do You Ever Delete Videos from Your Channel?

I don't like deleting videos from my channel, if I think they suck, other people might not. It's normally the thumbnails that I end up changing around and stuff but I try to keep all my videos up!

Yeah. Well, I don't delete them permanently, just set them to private. It's not like I'll ever really want to watch it again, but I guess I can't pull such a big trigger as making a video disappear and be unrecoverable forever...

I agree!

..I also feel like part of the story of your youtube channel is where you started and the progression you've made. A youtube channel, whether you wish it to or not it creates a story of you, and I think that's what makes the medium so special... you could be making cooking videos, gameplay videos, vlogs, reviews or music videos - regardless of the content it's inevitable that when you build a body of personal work you will begin to see character and trends! I find that exciting.

...Also someone once told me a story about walking through New York during the Aids epidemic. They spoke of seeing apartments from the recently deceased cleared out and the contents left out of the road as garbage. They became emotional when they described the amount of original art that was being thrown away and lost forever... a big undocumented part of art history - never to be seen again. ...I think about that every time someone throws away a piece they've created. It's sad.

Needless to say my apartment is filled with far too much old junk. It displeases my girlfriend. ;)

Although I do not like doing it I have deleted one or two possibly even three videos from my channel but it was either because I personally disliked it myself or felt like I could have done it better. Yeah they had 100+ views each but it was the quality of content I didn't like and didn't want to post. I would say its normal but don't do it too often :) .

Only videos I delete are the ones I made unlisted for few friends or just tested out if my sound levels are within acceptable range on youtube :)

Other than that I dont delete them. At least I can see how did I progressed/improved and what could be done better (and if I didnt experimented with something people disliked before).

For example old videos that you are not proud of anymore. Or videos that you rushed. Even if the video is gaining some views, it might be doing more harm than good as potential subscribers see it and subsequently lose interest in your channel.

The reason I ask is because I have one video on my channel that I'm thinking of deleting. It only took me an hour or two to complete compared to days for my other ones. I just made it spare of the moment when some YouTube news broke while the other ones are carefully planned. It gets some views, but I don't even like the idea of people watching it.

I think I've decided to delete my substandard video (or at least put it on private), but I wanted to see who else deletes their videos?

I deleted so many videos it makes no since. I decided if I am not happy with it,it has to go, if it is flagged it has to go. I just keep that rule of thumb.

Never.

I like to see where I've come from and how I've grown. I like to watch big youtubers and often go watch their oldest videos to see how bad they were. It reminds me how no one starts out perfect. I'd like to think someone will look at my old videos someday and also be inspired as I am.

The way I see old videos is like they are a part of my channel. Everything I have ever posted has helped me get to where I am today, for better or for worse, now if a video were to eventually cause mass offense in some way or I were to make a massive mistake or something that was simply just not good, only then I would take it down, out of demand, respect, and thought. At least, that's how I look at it. I mean, I don't want to be known as a minecraft YouTuber, I no longer post videos of the game, or play it really, but I won't take down my videos I did post, they are still a part of what made me, me.

No i think there was always a reason why you uploaded a video an everyone should stand to their videos even if you don't like them anymore because tgey are part of your story on youtube.
There are a few vidoes i would like to delete too but i tell my self: nahh
