can someone show me a resource which breaks down monetiztion versus CPMs
or atleast break it down with a brief explanation...im having trouble relating these two

please see attached pictures.... states my CPM for a given video is 5.88, yet im only making 1.00 per 1000 views

i dont understand how and why this is
also in the first picture i displayed...what does all of this information at the bottom and in the graph mean to me?

I wish I could understand that CPM part, but I think the bottom picture clearly shows that u earned the money from the ads that were displayed in those countries :)

CPM is the average price the advertiser is paying to Google for every 1000 monetized views. It's an average since there are various forms of ads that have different costs like TrueView and In-stream. These prices change daily as well, since ad spots are auctioned. Total views doesn't equal monetized views. It just happens to be that 54.5% of my total views happen to be monetized. This will differ for you based on the demographics of your viewers.

Gross revenue is the total amount collected from the advertiser. Then Google takes 45% of that and the rest is given to you or your network.

thank you for the info
so its coming down to the video not being monetized every view

how exactly can this ratio be increased? is there a threshold or algorithm that determines your monetized views vs total views?

I don't think it's an algorithm. It has to do with what the advertisers are willing to buy at auction. There are a lot of factors involved. One is the type and subject area of your content. Advertisers want to target certain keywords and subjects. Some topics are going to be more in demand by advertisers than others.

For example, let say you just have a vlog video about having a hard day at work. There is probably not a whole lot of good keywords that an advertiser would what to target. At best, you might attract some ads intended for the public at large. If you did a video about doing a repair to Ford vehicle, then you might see Ford commercials, ads to some local Ford dealerships, and maybe even some automotive tool ads. Stuff like that will increase your ratio.

Your competition will decrease your ratio. An advertiser is generally going to pay YouTube a set amount of money for a given number of views. If you have a lot of competition (i.e. videos covering the same topics or similar demographics) then those ads views are going to get spread pretty thin.

Demographics is also going to make a huge difference. Based on my content, I attract an older crowd. Only 10% is under the age of 24. The majority of them are likely to have money and not be a broke teenager or college student. Advertisers really want that 24-44 age group. My viewers are going to see more of the luxury car ads, more beer and alcohol ads, tax prep ads, etc. More monetized views are going to get sent to my channel instead of a gaming or minecraft channel.

Your location will also play a role. Advertisers only want to target certain countries. If you live outside of the United States, you're going to be at a disadvantage.

There is no easy answer to increasing your monetized views. You could re-target a more lucrative demographics with your channel, but there is going to be a lot more to it.

This is why I'm not gonna monetize my videos anymore...I've accepted my channel is to small for networks and that sort of thing....plus my niche has been flooded way to much lately....think i'm gonna go with just making music on magix and hide under a rock, or game reviews....hopefully you figured this all out though...

You have some very nice cinematography skills!
As for wanting an ad to be shown every time, that is not possible. Let's say that a viewer is in Brazil. Google might not have any Portuguese ads available. An advertiser targeting English speaking consumers should not be paying to reach customers in areas that they do not do business.

Why stop? Making 10 cents is still better than making nothing.
with the way my channel is....have you ever tried to revive a channel after its been dead for so long...ok do me a favor, look at my video time gabs...no no i am not asking you to give me views...i'm simply saying go to it and look at my new videos times vs my last gaming video...my channel dropped from almost 100 subs down to 49, i would be easier to get delete my channel and start a new....
