Dishonest Networks - [No names mentioned]

Okay - I know I have posted before regarding dodgy networks - and before wanting to delete this post, I will not mention any network names. I just want to make people aware of such networks.

These networks will tell you that you can test their services for a day or two and that you can unlink at anytime - once you have linked you YouTube account they will refuse to let you go. After chatting to them on Skype they basically laugh at you and tell you that you can try and report them etc.

What I cannot understand is that YouTube will allow this - which means anyone can start a network, lie to people about the perks etc, then steal the revenue from YouTubers and get away with it. How can YT allow this - there must be something that YouTube can do to force an unlink...?

Anyways - I am not mentioning any network names but just need to let people know that there are some dodgy networks out there and to be careful.

Even tried clicking the unlink button you YT - Said network will refuse and decline your unlink.

If anyone knows of a way to maybe contact someone at YouTube to inform them about these networks and find a way to force unlink please let me know - I will really appreciate it. Unfortunately I do not live in the US and to get legal advice will be quite expensive for me - and even a lawyer will not be able to make contact with these companies because they do not reply to emails and they don't have a telephone number or physical address listed... Any advice? Please let me know. :)

Thank you!
Ruan

Guessing you're talking about the one your channel on your yttalk profile is linked to?

;) yes - don't want to mention names here... but really really dodgy stuff... And they are so open about it - I spoke to them on Skype and I said well, I will report your company - so they told me, ok go ahead try your best!

under usa laws you can only sue if (something/person) stole $25 or more, in this case you didn't lose money. an important thing to remember about networks is always reading the things you click. this information from (name not be shown) is a good example why you must read it

Please note that we do not collect personally-identifying information about you, including your name, email address, telephone number or postal address, when you visit our Site, unless you choose to provide such information to us by registering with us, setting up an account, and/or contacting us regarding the Site or our services. If at any time you do provide us with such information, we will collect it

Use of Personally-Identifying Information by Third Parties As a general rule, (network name) will not disclose any of your personal information except to our affiliated companies and except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it

Please note, however, that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we use commercially-reasonable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

these rules were made from 1 of the top 10 networks and as you see you are agreeing with bad rules.

The problem I have is that they lied in their email - saying I can test it for a day or two. Then once I clicked link - I apparently agreed to a 10 month contract. WTF. This is BS and should be illegal. It's like give someone a contract and once you click a button you agree to a different contract completely - can't be legal?

So If I understand fully what you are saying here, you were lied to on email about the company, then signed a contract (which had the REAL info in it, not the email baloney) and locked yourself into a bad contract?

This is worrisome, and I bet you they had a great big 20 page contract to read too...

They just unlinked me!!!

After about 50 emails in 2 days and after I threatened them with legal action they unlinked me! PHEW!! They first told me that I am signed into a 10 month contract - but then I told them the email they sent me said I can unlink anytime - so I forwarded them the email and they unlinked me! Happy days...

And because of this I will never trust any network ever again!!

Thanks for all the comments etc - Time for a beer!
