Difference between camera lenses

Hi I plan on getting a canon 700d soon.

What are the differences between the different lenses?

Obviously it comes with a lense but I've seen a 60mm I couldn't believe the price it was like over £300 so I'm guessing it's pretty amazing!

I want it to look like when people have a pretty blurry back ground if you know what I mean like shaanxo beauty videos I think she has a canon 60d with a 60mm lense

Blurred backgrounds come from wider apertures. For example a lens that says f/1.8 will have a more blurred background than a lens that is f/4.0. The blurriness is also referred to as bokeh. The numbers on the lenses determine the focal length of the lens. A 60mm lens will have a more in the frame than an 80mm lens. Usually the best lenses for recording a still single person in a room range between 28mm-50mm. I hope I helped.

I would stick with the kit lens until you have a little more experience with a DSLR and you basically know what you are looking for through experience. A good buy for many people is as CrazyPUA said the 50mm 1.8 which is an inexpensive lens but with great performance, a lot of people go for that one and are happy with the results.

the 700d has a cropped sensor, so be careful. As the sensor is smaller than a full frame, the focal length would be greater than what it says on the box. Hence a 50mm lens might actually be equivalent to about 70mm.

So would this mean I would have to sit further back from the camera for it to look focused?
