Dealing With Inactive Subscribers

I have noticed on my channel and other similarly sized gaming channels, there a re a significant amount of inactive subscribers, who, in my case, generally comment on one video and mention to check out their channel, and then they never view your videos again. I wanted to create a discussion about how you can attempt to bring more active subscribers to your channel, and turn the inactive subs into active ones.

The first way I discovered is through 'Weekly Shoutout' videos. In my case, 'Shoutout Sunday.' In this technique, you essentially create a video series where you promote subscribers' content in your weekly shoutouts. This doesn't only send the inactive subscribers rushing to your video, it also gains you new subscribers. Set rules for your shoutouts, such as 'stay active on my videos' to make sure people will want to stay. Some may think this is a bad idea because some people will only like your videos because they want your shoutout, however I think it is a good decision in the long run, as you will more easily pick up subscribers who are genuinely interested because your videos have more views and likes, therefore higher up the search bar.

The other way is to research into your possible inactive subscribers' interests. You can do this by simply checking what videos they like, or you can be direct and ask them on their videos what you think they would want to see on your channel. You can then say 'if I get your support on these video ideas you have suggested, I will continue to make them, cheers!' Show constant friendliness and always reply to their comments on your videos, to show your appreciation.

Thanks for reading, I managed to get about 5 inactive subscribers to comment for a shoutout, so I guess I've got work to do. :)

Post any more tips you may have.. :P

You can't realy turn inactive subs into active subs unless they happen to re-visit your content and it's really engaging.
One advice I like to give is; f**k it don't think about them. Does it matter? You see huge channels that have lost such a large majority of their audience.
You see Athene, almost 800,000 subs, less than 30,000 views per video. You're gonna be dealing with this issue throughout your entire Youtube career, without being able to do ANYTHING about it, other than try to keep as many of your viewers engaged as possible.

don't athene your channel m8

Not yet m8, exponential growth just wait and see.
The League community is where the cod community was around the release of mw2 in terms of content creators, but it will peak WAYYY higher.
The people that are big now, are gonna grow so big when this community growth hits terminal velocity

Sounds like a good fix for a few days for the small channels, maybe a week or two, but I just imagine as soon as a YouTuber gets their way with a shoutout, they could easily unsubscribe or continue to remain inactive once they get your viewers their way.

This can be exploited in so many ways. I think to just ignore it, it will happen no matter how popular you get. Pay no attention to them, I bet there is not one channel on YouTube with every subscriber active.

if you have like 1 subscriber you might have 100% active audience

"might"
XD

Pewdiepie can be used as another example here.
Currently the most subscribed channel on YouTube with almost 33.5 million subscribers, yet averages at 5 million views per video (within the last 6 months is all I checked).

Arguably the biggest YouTuber, more inactive subscribers than active.
It just can't be helped, hahah.

I find that responding to comments might "remind" them that they once watched and liked your video. I think that helps with overall engagement as well.
